North Parramatta is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia 24 kilometres north-west of the Sydney central business district in the local government area of the City of Parramatta. Parramatta is a separate suburb to the south.

 

North Parramatta is dominated by Lake Parramatta and The King's School, which together comprise almost 50% of the land area.

 

Many of those attracted to the area enjoy the quieter suburban setting of North Parramatta combined with its close proximity to Parramatta CBD. The ability to enjoy the urban lifestyle without compromising on living space makes North Parramatta a popular choice for many of those working in the area.

COMMERCIAL AREA

There is a light industrial area towards North Parramatta, which includes industrial businesses such as Unilever, Rexona and Officeworks.

  • Church Street is home to many shops and restaurants. The northern end of Church Street, close to Lennox Bridge, features al fresco dining with a diverse range of cuisines. The southern end of Church Street features many Chinese restaurants and extends past Westfield to Auto Alley.

  • Parramatta Square (previously known as Civic Place) is a proposed civic precinct located in the heart of the city, adjacent to Parramatta Town Hall. The proposal includes a redevelopment of the Parramatta Civic Centre, a culture and arts centre and a new plaza. The designs of the first two projects, a 65 storey residential skyscraper and an office building were announced on 20 July 2012.

The nearest train station to North Parramatta is Parramatta railway station. The 609 bus route, ran by Hillsbus, is the local access to bus transport. It circles around from Prince Street, to Gloucester Avenue, past Lake Parramatta, onto Iron Street and then to the Parramatta Bus Interchange.

 

At the 2011 census, 21.9% of employed people travelled to work on public transport and 57.3% by car (either as driver or as passenger)
